Technopolis Yliopistonrinne is located in the heart of Tampere, situated between the university and the railway, half a kilometre south of the railway station. Kalevantie road passes in front of the main entrance, connecting the university area to the downtown core of Tampere via the Sorin silta bridge that spans the railway.

Technopolis Yliopistonrinne is an office building housing multiple users in adaptable office spaces. The lobby includes a conference centre and a restaurant that serve companies of various sizes. Companies can occupy space on multiple floors or operate from a single room. Additionally, there are daily and hourly-charged workspaces available in the Business Lounge area. Technopolis operates on the principle that a company can easily grow “within the building”.

In the initial design plans in 2007, Yliopistonrinne took on its distinctive curved white shape. The first part of the building welcomed its first occupants in the spring of 2010, when it was completed. It has seven above-ground floors and three below-ground floors, housing parking facilities and technical rooms. Additionally, the rooftop features a ventilation room, sauna facilities with meeting spaces, and a rooftop terrace offering views across the city to Pyynikki and both of Tampere’s lakes.

Shortly after completing the first building phase, the planning for the second phase began, and construction commenced in the spring of 2011. The second building was erected approximately nine metres south of the first one. The basement levels between the construction phases are connected seamlessly, and there is no noticeable border between the buildings. The second phase building, supported by pillars, features six office floors, and a ground-level parking floor. The connection between the two buildings at the 3rd floor created an interior street that unites the buildings.

The second phase building, completed in the fall of 2012, rises to the same height as the main floors of the first phase building. A one-story white band, which is part of Yliopistonrinne’s white facade concept, connects the buildings towards the city center. This band will continue to expand as there is space for two more construction phases in the area.

The first phase building has a floor area of approximately 12,150 m2, and the second phase has 8,050 m2. When Technopolis Yliopistonrinne is fully completed, it will have a total floor area of 30,000 m2.
