Tikkurila’s city centre is being developed. The state office building at Kielotie 15 will be demolished, and in its place, residential apartment buildings and a daycare centre will be constructed.
In 2017, the Senate, A-Kruunu, and the City of Vantaa organised a planning and land allocation competition for this project. The winning proposal was submitted by the architectural firm Helamaa & Heiskanen Oy and Peab Oy. During the zoning preparations, the competition proposal has been adjusted to meet the objectives of the zoning plan.
The block forms an interesting urban ensemble. The number of floors varies between 1 and 12, decreasing towards the park located to the east. The daycare centre is situated in the middle of the block, adjacent to the park. Ground-floor spaces are reserved for commercial premises that enhance the street’s vibrancy.
