The Upper Secondary School of Tampere Lyceum is built in 1935 and was designed by A. V. Illberg and H. Åberg. The building is historically valuable and represents functionalism.

The tasks were to arrange the spaces for the new ways of learning and to study the needs for the renovation. The design was executed in co-operation with the staff and the students as participatory design process. As the building is historically valuable, close co-work was done with the building control services and the Finnish Heritage Agency.

The design process was executed by using co-creation methods. The aim was to support multi-field working. Moreover, adaptation into the possible poist-pandemic changes in the use of spaces was taken into consideration, for example, hybrid learning and teaching.
